Repeat Prescriptions

These are available once they have been authorised by a doctor in this practice.

Please use right hand side of your prescription, tick the appropriate box and hand in your request to the reception staff. Please send a stamped self-addressed envelope with the request if you would like your prescription posted to you. Prescription requests can be emailed to mountfield.surgery@nhs.net

Alternatively you may order Patient Online Access. Please note, new users to the system are required to register first.

For reasons of safety requests cannot be taken over the telephone.

The new prescription will be available for collection after at least 48 hours (excluding weekends and Bank Holidays).

If you or someone you care for use the same medicines regularly you may be able to benefit from repeat dispensing from pharmacist. This means you won’t have visit the surgery or make appointment to see doctor every time you need more medicine. Please discuss this with your doctor and your pharmacist.

Prescriptions cannot be collected by children under 16 years of age.

Acute Prescriptions

One off prescriptions that the doctor has prescribed are called Acute Prescriptions.  Acutes are not regularly repeated and you will not be able to re-order them with your repeat medication. As a rule, if the medication does not appear of the right hand side of your prescription on your re-order form you cannot order it from us and you will need to speak to the prescriptions administrator at the practice or see\speak to a GP.  Some acute medication may be available to buy from the pharmacy without you needing to see the GP.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, or practice nurse at least once a year to review their medication and notification should appear on your repeat slip.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Your local pharmacist can also help you with a wide range of minor ailments

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
